Monash Malaysia awarded 6-star SETARA rating
The Ministry of Higher Education has announced that Monash University Malaysia sits in the very top cohort of “outstanding universities” in the latest SETARA ratings. Monash earned its six-star rating alongside major public universities like Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Only eight universities nationwide achieved the top award.
“There are many stars at Monash Malaysia, both among our staff and our students,” said Professor Andrew Walker, President and Pro Vice-Chancellor Monash University Malaysia. “This six-star rating from the Ministry of Higher Education is a wonderful acknowledgement of their outstanding work. It is especially welcome coming at the end of year in which we have maintained first-class teaching and learning in very challenging circumstances.”
Monash University Malaysia’s mission is to serve as a platform for educational excellence and innovation in southeast Asia, contributing to human capital development in Malaysia and beyond. Over the past five years Monash has been investing in new technology, teacher training and campus refurbishment so it can provide students with an active and engaging educational experience. This future-focused investment has served the university very well in 2020, during which almost all teaching and learning has taken place online.
“I am very pleased that our hard work, innovation and creativity has been recognised by the Ministry of Education with this six-star rating,” said Professor Walker.
