Dr Patricia Lau

Dr. Patricia Lau has worked in the higher education industry over the last 15 years. Her passion to develop people drives her to pursue her research interest in human resource development/ management. Being a HR consultant, she has worked with CEOs and HR directors on human resource development/management projects in West and East of Malaysia. Her work has been featured in several local news and a panelist in a recent Public Forum on 15 August 2020, organized by Galen Centre for Health and Social Policy. Her passion leads her to initiate and develop the HR forums in 2017, 2018, and 2019 at Monash University Malaysia. More than 200 participants attended the forum each year and received overwhelming responses from participants about the forum. As a HR scholar, her research articles have been published in high impact international journals that encompass Education+Training, Personnel Review, Human Resource Development International, and Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services. She serves as an Editorial Board member for two journals: (a) Human Resource Development International; and (b) European Journal of Training and Development.
Her excellence in teaching has been recognized by Monash University Australia as well as Monash University Malaysia. She is a recipient of the Vice-Chancellor’s Citations for Outstanding Contribution to Student Learning 2012, Monash University Australia, presented by Minister for Innovation, Services and Small Business, and Minister for Tourism and Major Events, The Honourable Louise Asher. She is also a recipient of Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence 2011 at Faculty of Business and Economics, Monash University Australia; and five other awards, namely, President/ Pro-Vice Chancellor Award for Outstanding Teaching and Innovation, Monash University Malaysia.
During her free time, she loves to travel, see faces of people and their cultures.
