Please tell us about your role in your current organisation.
I am a senior producer at Onedash22, with 5 years of industry experience in the field of film, video and multimedia production. My portfolio ranges from a wide area of video, multimedia, and animation. This includes productions in various formats for corporate and commercial communications such as exhibitions, TV/Online commercials, branded content, events, web series, educational content and the occasional documentary/narrative styled videos. Where required, I dabble in scriptwriting, directing and cinematography as well.
How have your studies at Monash helped to prepare you for the working world?
Specifically to my course of study, Monash has opened up my mind to not just the how, but the why in understanding media and its evolution. My course of studies has also equipped me with a mind that is no more just typical of reacting to the changes around me but also be an actor of positive change to the material practice of my craft (Media, Culture, Power: Dr Yeoh). Monash has set a standard of quality that I now aim to better in all my video productions.
Did you participate in any student activities or opportunities while at Monash?
I took part in a short film project that was supposed to be a one-off gig. I ended becoming an Assistant Director and had the opportunity to continue to work with Malek Abdullah, an industry veteran who went on to teach me lessons only experiences could offer. Coupled with the vigour of playing student activist with the internal student body and the lessons I learnt in class with the opportunity of working with Malek, I have gone on to produce some very interesting videos all over the world.
What did you enjoy most about your student life?
Ancora Imparo; and that has stayed true in everything I did as a student, until today.
