If you are working, who is your current employer and what is your role?
I am currently joining an internship program in GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceutical as a stepping stone to develop my career.
Why did you choose Monash Malaysia?
Monash Malaysia is one of the world’s most prestigious universities renowned for research and teaching excellence.
While at Monash, what type of opportunities did you participate in?
I did have the opportunity to participate in the ‘Buddy Scheme’ Program to help new students to adjust quickly to university life in Monash Malaysia by providing advices and sharing personal experiences.
What insights, skills or experience made a difference to your own life or the lives of others around you?
My three years of studies in Monash Malaysia has not just provided me with a deep knowledge in science, but has also enhanced my soft skills, including time management, teamwork and interpersonal skills that will be very beneficial and helpful in developing my career.
Whilst at Monash, did you have any industry exposure/placements? How has it benefited you?
I did have industry exposure through a Medical Bioscience internship in my second year of study in Monash Malaysia. I was placed in a hospital medical laboratory for two months, with responsibilities to perform a wide range of laboratory tests and analyses on clinical samples. It was definitely a beneficial experience to have the opportunity to learn to be accountable in the real working world.
What do you love most about your student life at Monash?
I loved learning and working with diverse groups of people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Also, I was guided by inspirational and friendly lecturers throughout my student life at Monash Malaysia.
If you moved to come study at Monash, where did you live? How did you find that experience?
I lived at Sun-U Residence with my brother. It was certainly a great experience, as we learned to be more independent and responsible.
If you are a graduate, have the experiences you have been talking about above made a difference to the way you approach your work and your career?
Yes, the experiences mentioned above have been very beneficial in guiding me to develop my career and achieve my career goal.
What is your goal/dream in life, where are you headed to in the future?
My goal/dream in life is very simple, yet challenging. It is to improve people's health, so that people can live longer and happier.
What is your advice to current Monash Malaysia students?
Your future is in your hands. Work hard on what you are passionate about, and be grateful for your family.
